I am a researcher at the Centre for Complex Systems in Transition (CST) at Stellenbosch University, with a focus on urban sustainability, ecosystem-based adaptation, and climate change risks in cities. I use an ecosystem services approach to understand how nature contributes to human well-being, and have a particular interest in the impact of inequality on people-nature relationships. In addition, I’m keen to explore diverse urban futures for the African continent, using creative and transformative visioning approaches. Before joining the CST, I completed a PhD in Sustainability Science at the Stockholm Resilience Centre, and worked as a postdoctoral researcher with the Natural Capital Project at the University of Minnesota.
