The 30 million pound Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI) is located on the University’s Penryn Campus and is funded with a 22.9 million pound investment from the European Regional Development Fund and 6.6 million pounds from the South West of England Regional Development Agency. The ESI leads cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research into solutions to problems of environmental change; and in so doing enhances people’s lives by improving their relationships with the environment.
We are looking to appoint a Lecturer in the area of social science of sustainability with disciplinary background in Geography or Environmental Science. All applications relevant to our research strategy will be considered, however we especially welcome applications with expertise in the following areas: coastal and marine governance; food security, localisation and resilience; ecosystem services and cultural values. This post is available from 1st June 2014 on a full-time basis.
Applicants must be qualified to PhD level in a relevant field, and be able to demonstrate a strong potential for research leadership with a track record in refereed publications and involvement in submitting successful grant applications. In addition candidates are expected to have strong interdisciplinary research interests that provide an excellent fit for collaboration within the ESI and beyond, particularly with regard to knowledge transfer and engagement with businesses to support regional economic development. The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels on a range of programmes.
